Saturday Night – but no Fever

Most of you know I am not a big disco fan.  Matter of fact…I drove around in a ’67 Mustang with a big “Disco Sux” bumper sticker for most of the 70’s.  So we’re not going to go down the path of The Trammps hit “Disco Inferno” from the “Saturday Night Fever” soundtrack but rather something a little more soulful a few years before that one.  These guys also get a little slack for being from Philly and having some moves like the Temps.

I really like how this looks like it was recorded live in the studio.  Crank it up!!

Two for Tuesday – Joan Armatrading

I had a really hard time just picking two of my favorite Joan Armatrading songs for this week’s 2 For Tuesday so you’re getting an extra one!  I think I first heard of Joan thru a woman I hung out with in the mid-70’s who introduced me to “Love and Affection” on her self-titled album.  It’s followed below by 2 of my other faves from her next album, “Show Some Emotion”.

If you’ve never heard of her, I think you’ll enjoy her jazzy/folksy guitar and pure voice that is capable of emoting so many emotions.  If you have heard of her, I think you’ll agree these are 3 of her best.   Enjoy!

One more week to go and it’s a battle for 1st place.  Jim turner’s team pulled ahead of Doug Edwards’ guys by one game.  And Gary Nankervis’ team is in 3rd just one win behind. Sunday with Cilla

Cilla Clack was born in Liverpool and was championed by the Beatles after she was discovered working as a coat-check attendant at The Cavern, the local club where the boys started.

Her single “Anyone Who Had a Heart” (written by Burt Bacharach) reached number one in the UK in 1964.  I had such a crush on her in the 60’s!  What a strong and powerful voice…

Can’t You See?

Let’s take a trip back to the early 70’s for some good ole’ southern rock with the Marshall Tucker Band.  The “Marshall Tucker” in the band’s name refers not to a band member, but to a blind piano tuner from Spartanburg, NC, the band’s home town.  This was recorded live on 9/10/1973 at the Grand Opera House in Macon, GA.

CRANK THIS ONE UP!!

Trying To Leave Something Behind

The Accountant (2016) was on Netflix – or maybe Amazon Prime – a few nights ago and I recorded it this time after having watched it a few years ago.  Just a so-so to pretty good movie with Ben Affleck.  But the thing that most impressed me was its last song from Sean Rowe.  So much so that I downloaded the song for my car and found his video below on YouTube.

Hope you enjoy it.  It’s pretty moving…

New Photo Gallery Added – International (Updated!)

I created a new photo gallery for The International up in St. Augustine and added a few pics that I found.  Just added a few more than Don Hunter sent me – thanks, Don! If you have any that you would like added, please send them over to me!  Pics are all on the Photo Galleries page here.

I posted the Pro-Am results for each round and also created a little table (you can sort by clicking on the column arrows) showing the results for the players from The Villages.  For more info click the Read More button…
