Flashback Friday – A-Ha

This could probably also be a One-Hit Wonder post but I think they may have had another hit other than “Take On Me“.  I’ll have to root around a bit more.  This is typical mid-80’s, made for music video pop but it is still a catchy song.

The album, Hunting High and Low peaked at number one in their native Norway, number two in the UK, and number 15 on the US Billboard album chart.

Sherrie Aly wants to invite you all to something outside the bubble for a nice afternoon of music and relaxation.   She and her music partner, Mark (also a Villager),  are playing a Springtime Market and Craft Fair at Citrus Hills Country Club in Citrus Hills Hernando County.  It’s a nice country drive.  If the weather is nice, it would be an enjoyable day trip out to a show with 50 vendors.  They will be playing music for this festival at 10 am – 2pm.    If you can make it, be sure and come by the music tent and say hi!   Click Read More to see flyer.

Playing For Change – Stand By Me

I think we’re way overdue for another Playing for Change (PFC) song so let’s go with a Ben E. King classic that features musicians around the world recorded by the Playing For Change team during their travels. This song continues to remind us that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people.

Two for Tuesday – ELO

This is a Two For Tuesday but both songs were in the same concert. Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1970 by multi-instrumentalists Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood and drummer Bev Bevan.

After Wood’s departure in 1972, Lynne became the band’s sole leader, co-arranging and producing every album while writing nearly all of their original material. During their first run from 1970 to 1986, Lynne and Bevan were the group’s only consistent members. During ELO’s original 13-year period of active recording and touring, they sold over 50 million records worldwide. The band also holds the record for having the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits (20) without a number one.

Here’s 2 of their many hits – “Strange Magic” from Face The Music and “Livin’ Thing” from New World Record. My personal favorite album was Eldorado but I’ll save that one for later.
